Cookie Policy

This policy explains what cookies Marchant sets, why we set them, and how you can control them.

Last updated: 12 August 2026

Essential β€” 2

Essential cookies

Analytics β€” 3

Analytics cookies

1

What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and measure how the site is used. Similar technologies β€” such as localStorage β€” serve comparable purposes.

2

Cookies we use

Marchant operates two domains: getmarchant.com (marketing site) and app.getmarchant.com (application). The table below lists every cookie or storage key either domain may set.

__clerk_*Essential

Clerk authentication β€” keeps you signed in to app.getmarchant.com

Session / 1 year
gm_cookie_consentEssential

Stores your cookie-consent choice (localStorage key)

Persistent (localStorage)
va_* / _vercel_*Analytics

Vercel Web Analytics β€” anonymous page-view measurement

Up to 1 year
_ga / _ga_*Analytics

Google Analytics 4 β€” page journeys and conversion events (set only after you accept)

Up to 2 years
_clck / _clskAnalytics

Microsoft Clarity β€” session recordings and heatmaps (set only after you accept)

Up to 1 year
3

Essential cookies

Essential cookies are strictly necessary to deliver the services you request. They enable you to log in, navigate securely, and use core application features. Because they are necessary, they are set regardless of your consent choice. You cannot opt out of essential cookies without also losing access to the features they power.

4

Analytics cookies

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns β€” pages visited, referral sources, and rough geographic region. Vercel Analytics does not use fingerprinting, does not share data with advertising networks, and does not track you across other websites.

Analytics cookies are set only after you accept cookies via the consent banner. If you decline, the va_* and _vercel_* cookies are never created.

Two further analytics tools are built into the site and run only if you accept cookies: Google Analytics 4 (page journeys, conversion events) and Microsoft Clarity (session recordings, heatmaps, rage clicks). Both are operated by companies in the United States, so accepting analytics cookies also transfers data outside the UK and EU under Standard Contractual Clauses. Declining keeps both switched off entirely β€” no script is loaded and no cookie is set.

Calendly appears only on our demo page, and only when demo booking is enabled. It loads in an iframe and sets its own cookies under calendly.com, which we do not control; Calendly’s own cookie notice governs them. No other page loads it.

Your choices

When you first visit getmarchant.com you will see a cookie-consent banner. Accepting enables analytics; declining keeps only essential cookies active.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, right here:

You can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies at any time. Most browsers let you do this in Settings β†’ Privacy & Security. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in to the Marchant application.

6

Third-party cookies

Marchant does not embed third-party advertising networks, social media widgets, or tracking pixels on any page. The third-party services that may set cookies on our domains are Clerk (authentication), which is essential, and Vercel Analytics, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which load only if you accept analytics cookies. All are described above. On the demo-booking page only, Calendly loads as an iframe once you accept cookies; it sets its own cookies under calendly.com rather than on our domains, governed by Calendly's own cookie notice β€” see Section 4.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or applicable regulations. We will post the updated policy here and update the date shown above. For material changes we will notify you via the in-app notification system.
