Planned for 2028
French accounting & TVA — planned for 2028
DGFiP VAT filing, compliant invoicing, payroll accounting and accountant-ready exports. Marchant serves UK businesses today; this is what the 2028 French launch is being built to cover.
- United Kingdom — launching November 2026
- France — 2028
- Germany — 2028
What the French launch will cover
France is planned for 2028. This is the scope we are building, shaped around how French finance teams and partner accountants work.
TVA & DGFiP electronic filing
Prepare CA3 returns and related schedules with a clear audit trail. Cut the spreadsheet back-and-forth before submission to the tax authority.
E-invoicing & structured invoices
Invoices with the fields expected for France’s B2B e-invoicing reform — ready for customer and supplier workflows without bolting on a separate tool.
French payroll accounting
Store payslips and post payroll journals aligned to French practice — workforce costs at the same level of detail as the general ledger. A dedicated French payroll integration is on the roadmap.
Year-end & expert-comptable exports
Trial balance, ledgers and exports shaped to feed the liasse fiscale and your expert-comptable’s working papers without manual re-keying.
Pennylane, Tiime, Cegid — and Marchant
These vendors serve France today and Marchant does not — that is the honest comparison until the 2028 launch. What follows is how the products differ on fundamentals.
Pennylane
Strong accountant–company collaboration in France. Marchant does not serve France until the 2028 launch; if you also run a UK subsidiary, that side is covered today.
Marchant vs PennylaneTiime
Lightweight for micro-businesses and fast invoicing. Marchant is a UK product today — French VAT, payroll and exports arrive with the 2028 launch.
Marchant vs TiimeCegid
Depth for French mid-market and ERP integrations. Marchant publishes its pricing and serves the UK today; French depth is what the 2028 launch is being built for.
Marchant vs CegidIf you run a UK entity too
A French company with a UK subsidiary is a customer today: Marchant handles the UK books and MTD filing now, and the French side joins at the 2028 launch.

Common questions about French accounting
- Does Marchant support French TVA declarations to DGFiP?
- Not yet. French TVA filing to the DGFiP is part of the French launch planned for 2028 — it is not available today. Marchant currently files UK VAT to HMRC under Making Tax Digital. You can join the France waitlist on this page and we will tell you when CA3 filing goes live.
- Is Marchant ready for France's mandatory B2B e-invoicing reform?
- Not yet. France's mandatory B2B e-invoicing reform is part of the 2028 French launch, and our Factur-X guide tracks the rollout timetable. Structured invoicing for the French market is not offered until that launch.
- Can I manage French payroll in Marchant?
- Not yet. French payroll accounting is part of the 2028 launch. Today Marchant runs UK payroll via BrightPay sync; French payslip storage and contribution journals are planned, not shipped.
- Can I use one Marchant account for a UK company and a French entity?
- Partly. The UK company is fully supported today — its own chart of accounts, tax settings and MTD filing calendar. The French entity's TVA obligations are not covered until the 2028 launch, so you would still need a French tool for that side until then.
